John Banovich Original Painting “Kilimanjaro II”

Donated by John Banovich
Value: $8,000 Current Highest Bid:

Bid on this package

This is a rare opportunity to own a framed John Banovich original oil painting. “Kilimanjaro II” captures the essence of Africa’s timeless greatness; greatness found in all of its natural wonders, from its highest peaks to its grandest inhabitants. Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa, and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world.  It is the overseer of the continent…the summit of Africa.

11” x 14” Oil on Belgian Linen

With acrylics and oils, John Banovich shares with us the intimacy and power of the world’s remaining wildlife and wilderness. The African savanna, the dense forests of Southeast Asia and the magnificent peaks of North America’s ranges have provided inspiration for over 700 works of art. Banovich lives what he paints, spending weeks in the remotest places on earth to study the subjects he is so well known for picturing. He is known internationally for his large, dramatic portrayals of iconic wildlife. Today, Banovich’s work can be found in museum, corporate and private collections.

While Banovich is most closely associated with African species, namely elephants, lions, leopards, cape buffalo and rhinoceros—he’s been to Africa three dozen times on research trips—he has also won accolades for his realistic interpretations of Siberian tigers, Chinese pandas, and North American megafauna (such as grizzly and polar bears, bison, and puma).

Besides achieving uncommon popularity among collectors seeking originals and giclée canvas reproductions offered in limited edition, Banovich has tried to be a wildlife art innovator in using his paintings to raise awareness about imperiled species. He attracted global attention for his unprecedented 10 X 10-foot square, life-sized painting of an African elephant,  titled , “Once Upon A Time,” completed to help draw attention to the growing plague of ivory poaching. Under the umbrella of the Banovich Wildscapes Foundation, money generated through artwork sales has been channeled back to support grassroots conservation efforts that promote habitat protection, science-based wildlife management and sustainable tourism. Over the years, the foundation and its partners have raised millions of dollars.

Banovich “Maneaters of Tsavo” Foundation Edition Giclee Image Gallery

Banovich “Maneaters of Tsavo” Foundation Edition Giclee

Donated by Banovich Art
Value: Priceless Current Highest Bid:

Bid on this package

A very rare SOLD-OUT “Man Eaters of Tsavo” framed studio Foundation Edition giclée canvas. One of Banovich’s most iconic images, “Man Eaters of Tsavo” tells the story of the two infamous lions that killed and devoured, in a most demonic manner, nearly one hundred and forty people in East Africa, bringing a complete halt to the construction of the British railway. Canvas is 38 x 60 inches; framed dimensions are 53 x 75 inches

"For nearly a year they terrorized Tsavo and become a major concern for the British Prime Minister. These famous lions achieved legendary status with President Theodore Roosevelt stating, “I think that the incident of the Uganda man-eating lions is the most remarkable account of which we have any record."

"During my research on these infamous beasts, I began to realize the mountain of challenges I was about to face. I was setting out to paint lions that lived over a century ago, with no direct reference. The hides that represent the mounted forms at the Field Museum in Chicago were in poor condition. I then decided to focus on the spirit of the lions and represent the two characteristics that made them so feared. One represents the aggressive, brutal nature of their attacks. The other was how they often, quite arrogantly and with little concern, consumed their victims within sight and sound, of the others and later returned to finish off the scraps. The dramatic story of the Tsavo  Lion’s remains the most remarkable man-eating saga in history." - John Banovich, Artist/Conservationist

“Full of Himself” by sculptor Mick Doellinger

21.25” x 26” x 8.5”  |  Limited Edition of 25

"This stallion is in his prime, full of power, vigor and testosterone (Full of Himself). At any moment, I imagined he would start squealing and pawing at the ground, demanding attention." - Mick Doellinger

The work of sculptor Mick Doellinger gives life to the animal kingdom, providing audiences a glimpse of an animal’s behavior from the whimsical antics of a donkey to the intense quivering of a dog on point. One not only comprehends a sense of the emotion in that animal, but also can appreciate the balance between the technical anatomy and the loose texture for which Mick’s work is so well known.

Doellinger has lived in the United States since 2003, but grew up in Australia where he gained many of the skills he uses today in his artwork. He started sculpting taxidermy manikins in the late 1970’s and gained international industry recognition for physical accuracy and unique artistry. Doellinger integrates this working knowledge of anatomy and sculpting with a deep understanding of animal behavior and psychology that he gleaned from years of guiding and wildlife management in the Australian outback.

The work of Mick Doellinger communicates his fascinations with nature and art by harmonizing the two in a tradition that has inspired countless artists throughout the centuries. For the past 30 years Mick has honed his sculpting technique and developed a style that has not only become his “voice,” but is a reflection of his artistic process.

“California’s Pride” (valley quail) by renowned avian sculptor, Stefan Savides.

12” x 9” x 8” | Limited Edition of 25

Known as the “Bird Man,” Savides' work is highly sought after by collectors worldwide. Stefan Savides' life is all about birds. He has never worked a day that he was not recreating birds in one form or another. While taxidermy, a profession in which he has worked his way to the top, earning international acclaim, has been a mainstay for most of his adult life, this multitalented artist, from a young age, has painted, carved and sculpted birds from around the world.

Sculpting in bronze is a natural progression from Savides’ taxidermy, as it provides a lasting expression of his knowledge of avian anatomy and design. Years of intense study, coupled with flair for simplistic design equates to renderings that capture the essence of his subjects in elegant works of art. Stefan’s exquisite work is without the distraction of overbearing detail, brought to life by the hands of a master sculptor. Stefan is truly a multitalented artist who has proven himself in a variety of mediums.

“While it was fifty years of avian taxidermy that fine-tuned my eye for bird anatomy, my artistic sense compelled me to sculpt in a style that omitted so much realistic detail, a factor essential in a mounted bird. As I embarked on my sculpture career, I vowed never to create bronze taxidermy.”
